The Invention of Groove (2010-2011) |
|
For percussion trio
Instrument List:
-Marimba (4.3 oct)
-Marching Snare Drum
-Marching Tenor Drums
-2 Kick Drums
Program Notes:
Originally "The invention of GROOVE" is a piece that pays homage to the prehistoric people that first created the drum and made the first rhythms and grooves. The rest, as they say, is history.
This piece was originally commissioned by three percussionists from my alma mater, Science Hill High School, in Johnson City, TN. However, it never received it's premiere. This work is a fun, Stomp or Blue Man Group-like piece that combines marimba with battery instruments. This piece has plenty of theatrics, improvisation, and other engaging qualities that will have the audience on the edge of their seats!
