Glacial Cathedrals (2013)
Written for Horn in F and Percussion Quintet.
Glacial Cathedrals is dedicated to the University of Tennessee Martin Percussion Studio. The work calls for solo horn with a percussion quintet accompaniment. Glacial Cathedrals symbolizes the sheer beauty and powerful presence of the glaciers found in the Artic and Antartic. However, for all their magnificence, they are quickly disappearing thanks to rising temperatures around the globe. Hence, this work serves as an epitaph to this incredible product of nature's handiwork, and it also serves as a reminder to all of us that the beautiful and inspiring things in nature need protection. It is our responsibility to our planet and future generations to ensure their continued existence.
